I’ve been wearing Dior’s Hypnotic Poison for about 5 years now. It’s How I Smell, when I am not smelling like a ripe little dirtball.
I recently ran out, and while wandering Bloomingdale’s trying to keep my mind off the election until more results were in, asked them for something a little more modern to replace it. I ended up with Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, which is described as:
• Sensuous top notes of Black Truffle and Ylang mingled with fresh Bergamot and delectable Black Currant.
• Dramatic middle notes of dark, tempting Florals and rich Fruit Accords. The heart is deepened with the intoxicating Lotus Wood.
• Decadent base notes of Patchouli, Incense and Vetiver. Vanilla Tears add a fluid creaminess to warm Balsam and smooth Sandalwood.
I’ll say.
Comparing Hypnotic Poison~
Bitter almond, caraway, jasmine sambac, moss, jacaranda wood, vanilla musk.
I feel like I’m cheating on Hypnotic Poison, or giving up a little of my identity by changing my signature scent. I feel a little absurd even thinking about it.

I just stumbled upon your site and i’m enjoying every bit of it. I’m in a bit of a scent dilema myself. I can’t decide if I should forego my usual “Premier Figuier Extréme” or go with the new “Aedes de Venustas”… Maybe we should buy both and wear one scent on the left wrist and the other scent on the right…
